Child Development Reviews
The practice offers a preventive health service for all children so that any health and development problems can be picked up and treated as early as possible. Development reviews are arranged by appointment at the age of:
- 8 weeks GP health check and immunisations with the nurse
- 12 weeks immunisations with the nurse
- 16 weeks immunisations with the nurse
- 12 months immunisations with the nurse
- 3 years and 4 months immunisations with the nurse
Immunisations against infectious disease are recommended for every child except in unusual medical conditions. They are given by appointment by ouor practice nurses at the surgery who are always willing to discuss any concerns.
New Mums' Group is a post-natal support group run by the health visiting team and held at Imperial Road surgery. Every first-time mother will receive a personal invitation to the group which provides information and mutual support from other mothers in an enjoyable baby-friendly setting.

Young Parents Group
An afternoon of play activities for parents, babies and toddlers at the Matlock Children's Centre, Castle View School. The session is led by Diane, our nursery nurse, and all parents who are aged under 25 are welcome to join us in playing together, talking and enjoying sampling healthy snack foods.
Baby Brunch
This is a drop-in session for all parents where the emphasis is on providing healthy food for your baby. Expert help is on hand to help you with any breastfeeding difficulties, and it is an opportunity to share feeding experiences, difficulties and successes with other parents. The session is held at the Children's Centre, Castle View School on Mondays 10.30am - 12 noon.
Immunisations
Routine child immunisations are offered to all new babies and young children registered with the practice. Any parents with concerns about having their children immunised are welcome to discuss things with either the health visitors or one of the doctors.
Preschool Booster Immunisations - The routine preschool immunisations which used to be given at around 4 years have now been brought forward and are offered at 3.5years. This is the last routine immunisation that your child needs until they are 14-15 years.
Matlock Toy Library
The toy library meets every Friday between 9.30am and 12noon at the Childrens' Centre, Castle View School.
